I started to do blood and urine test since 2 years ago. The reason I started to do it because of my friends freak me out with the result they share with me like physically they look healthy but wouldn't know they are actually at the risk of diabetic or high in uric acid or cholesterol level at the dangerous state. I mean many people or just minority like me sure will think "Oh, we're still young anyway. These only happen to old people right?" In fact, in this modern day with so many fast food restaurants, change of diets, and lifestyle, disease can strike us as young as a child.
The shocking part to me was I'm underweight but I get the result of slightly off the recommended range for BAD CHOLESTEROL (low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, LDL). It supposed to be less than 2.6 mmol/L and I got 2.9 mmol/L (I was like WHAT???). My first test report showed I had higher total cholesterol (ideal <5.2, I had 5.4) and 1 year later total cholesterol is normal but turned to get high LDL Cholesterol (???). I already cut down eating fries and beef and fried food as much as I can.
So, this time really have to do extra with the motivation from this assignment. Through Google search, besides a healthy diet, exercise is essential too (link). I can have more reason to go for swimming besides learning to swim better (Jogging is not a good option due to appropriateness and safety around my housing area). Other than that, consuming more good cholesterol like omega-3 from fish said can lower LDL Cholesterol (link). Source of Omega-3 can be found from fish, salmon, sardine, mackerel, chia seed, walnuts, cereal and etc (link).
Another problem I had from the report I wish to improve is the mineral level in my body. It's like forever at deficient level. The easiest way to solve this problem of course is taking supplement but what I found for food to improve mineral level can be seaweed and yogurt (Yogurt?) and etc (link). This is not a problem. They are my favourite food.
